The CityCharge 2.0 is a completely redesigned, multifunctional lamppost with a charging unit for two electric vehicles. Depending on the locally available electricity and the charging capacity of the car, charging can be done at a capacity of up to 22 kW – as fast as “regular” charging stations on the street. CubeCharging’s compact charging technology is specially adapted to be built into a lamppost and works together with an RFID reader. That makes this charging solution secure and intelligent.
By no means do all electric drivers have their own driveway or parking space. For the transition to emissions-free mobility to succeed, it is therefore important that sufficient publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure becomes available. Combining public charging with public lighting creates additional economic benefits and counteracts the “cluttering” of public space: this solution contributes to a peaceful streetscape. Also, charging solutions up to 22 kW are cheaper and easier to fit into electricity grids than DC chargers.
