Electric Superbike Twente has developed a new motor, the Vector-ST. The “ST” stands for Swapping Technology. During a pit stop, the battery pack of an Electric Superbike can be swapped; the empty battery is taken out and a fully charged battery is put back in. This allows the motorcycle to achieve the same range as those with conventional internal combustion engines.
The weight of the motorcycle is reduced because the battery is smaller. The engine weighs only 180 kg and has more than 200 hp, which means the team has developed a powerful engine. The innovation has had a major impact on the engine’s design; it has led to a complete overhaul of the chassis and a greater focus on cooling. To ensure driver safety, the team uses real-time telemetry. They can read all the sensors at the pitwall to keep a close eye on the engine.
